CAR HIRE

Driving in Barbados is easy, not only do they drive on the left but fellow drivers are very courteous, however it can be slightly bumpy. There is so much to see and as the island is small you can easily get round all the sites during your stay.

You require a Barbados permit which will be acquired by the hirer from the local police station at a cost of $US 5. The insurance is normally comprehensive but with a large excess waiver.

The cost is not cheap but we can arrange the hire of a Suzuki Alto automatic from Tony a long time friend of ours for around $US 50 per day. The car is regularly serviced etc and ideal for the island. Alternatively if you require a larger car then there are many companies to be found on the internet.

CURRENCY

The Barbados Dollar is pegged to the US Dollar at 2 to 1 and most establishments take US Dollar. You'll find many banks and Cashpoint machines to acquire Barbados Dollars who's current exchange rate is 3.50 to the Pound.
